God’s Beautiful Creation

God’s creation of this planet and all its beauties, mysteries, creatures, weather, terrain, and just sheer wonder has always intrigued me. I do and have always accepted that our world was created by our Majestic God exactly as described in Genesis 1.

God created humans in His image and gave us intelligence above all other creatures, along with probing minds, curiosity, likes and dislikes, interests and disinterest.

I have had pets of various kinds, but I much prefer creatures in the wild. I have enjoyed visiting zoos and learning about animals I will never see in the wild; I have read books and pored over pictures of wildlife all of my life; odd-looking insects and even snakes have held my interests; but in the 1990’s, my interests began to focus on fowls of the air.

My family and I were living in Tennessee; I began to recognize many colorful birds I had only seen in pictures, which were year-round or spring and summer residents there. A new world opened to me when I began identifying birds and realizing I knew many of them because of my past studies.

Then I learned many birds could be attracted to feeders containing certain seeds and other substances and could be observed up close from a window! From that point, wherever I have lived (in six states and multiple locations), I have put up bird feeders.

I have researched and, by trial and error, have learned how to attract numerous kinds of birds to feeders and nest boxes.

What benefits have come from this interest in birds? Our God is a God of detail, and He loves color. He created thousands of creatures; the identity of many of these can depend on one small characteristic!

God knew He would send my family and me to many locations; He knew my awakened interest in fowls of the air would be a constant and would provide grounding, relaxation, and pure joy! It would increase my knowledge of His majesty, His love of beauty, His attention to detail, and His love for His human creation.

“And God saw every thing He had made, and behold, it was very good.” Genesis 1:3a

This interest has led me to realize more deeply the truth of Matthew 6:26, “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are you not much better than they?”

Matthew 10:29, “And are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father…ye are of more value than sparrows.”

Think of this: God knows how many insects are killed by pest control; He knows when we squash a bug repulsive to us; He KNOWS ALL that goes on in the world He created. Remember! Our God is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient!!

What about the things God gave you an interest in? What places do your job, hobbies, and various interests hold in your life? Nothing is accidental with God. He wants us to allow everything to teach us about Who He is.

Look for ways your interests enlarge your knowledge of God. Your brain was created by God. Ask Him to teach you, through every detail of all you see, hear, do, and love, more about WHO HE IS!
